Frequently Asked Questions about
MEMA
How does MEMA serve the automotive supplier industry?
Since 1904, the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association
(MEMA) has been breaking new ground to benefit the automotive supplier
industry: aftermarket, heavy duty and original equipment. MEMA’s
life span virtually mirrors that of the gasoline-powered vehicle
industry in the United States. Even before the automobile enjoyed
widespread popularity, the association’s founders were quick
to realize the potential of the automotive parts and accessories
industry and the need for a manufacturers’ organization.
Today that tradition continues. MEMA offers vital news and information,
a common voice for the industry, peer networking and accurate, timely
market research.
What is the value proposition for MEMA members?
MEMA provides its members:
- a forum to address issues of common concern
- up-to-date news and information on industry issues, legislation
and regulations
- an industry voice on issues affecting daily business
- vital information on market trends and analysis
- networking through its product and peer groups
- seminars and conferences on the latest industry issues
- discounted rates for trade shows
How can I get on the MEMA mailing list?
MEMA designated member representatives are automatically added to
the association mailing list and the electronic publications lists.
Member companies can have an unlimited number of employees on MEMA’s
electronic publications lists by sending an e-mail to media@mema.org. Subscriptions are available for the association’s
print publications by e-mailing media@mema.org.
Someone in my company is a member of MEMA; how do I join?
MEMA membership is by company and not individual. If your company
is a member, you are a member. If you would like to receive the association’s
electronic publications, e-mail Jobie Dowd, media@mema.org.
What is the relationship between MEMA, the Automotive Aftermarket
Suppliers Association (AASA), the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association
(HDMA) and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA)?
MEMA is a parent association of AASA, HDMA and OESA. Each of the
three market segment associations is separately incorporated with
its own board of directors. Representatives of the three association
boards’ also serve on the MEMA board of directors.
Members paying dues to AASA, HDMA or OESA with existing business
or interest in the other market segments may join the other associations
for no extra cost. In all cases, a member must complete the application
for each market segment group in which they have interest.
Can I register for an event if my company is not a member of MEMA?
MEMA welcomes non-members to its events at the non-member registration
fee. Non-members also may purchase MEMA publications at the non-member
rate.
Does MEMA sell mailing lists?
MEMA does not sell mailing lists. MEMA’s market segment associations
publish annual market research reports which include current member
listings: Automotive Aftermarket Status Report (AASA), Truck Maintenance
in the USA (HDMA) and OE Industry Review (OESA). Each of these reports
is for purchase at non-member rates. Click
